They apply to the Knift app (Android and web) and to the service behind it.
Knift helps you plan your shopping: gather dishes, tick off what you already have, produce a shopping list. It works current supermarket offers into that.
The app runs without an account and without a connection. Your recipes, your shopping list and your prices sit on your device.
You only need an account for two things: syncing between your own devices, and sharing offers and prices with others. Signing in uses a Google account; of that we store only an identifier, no name and no email address (Privacy policy).
You can delete your account yourself at any time — in the app or via this page. Without an account the app carries on working.
Nothing at present. Should that change, we will say so beforehand; whatever you have used until then stays free.
This is the most important paragraph on this page. The offers come from publicly accessible sources of the chains, from leaflets that users have scanned, and from what others have contributed.
They can be wrong, out of date, or not valid in your branch. The app tells you where every price comes from and marks what nobody has confirmed yet — but we cannot vouch for a shop holding a price. What counts is always the label on the shelf.
The same goes for recipes and ingredient details: check for yourself what you buy and eat, particularly with intolerances and allergies.
If you contribute an offer, a shelf price or an ingredient match, you give us the right to show that detail in the service and pass it on to others. That is the point of it — on its own it helps nobody.
What you contribute only counts as verified once at least two independent accounts have confirmed it — and the more accounts supply a chain in an area, the more confirmations are needed; regular prices do not go out unconfirmed at all. If you mistype, you can report it and correct it.
Only contribute what you have seen yourself. Deliberately wrong prices are not a small thing: they cost other people money and lead to a block.
You can import recipes from other websites. They still belong to whoever wrote them — you may use them yourself, but not distribute them through Knift.
That is why other people’s recipe text does not leave your device. When syncing, only the address and a few of your own details travel; your second device fetches the text from the source itself. That is not a setting, it is how it is built.
For serious or repeated breaches we may block or delete an account. Your data on your device is untouched by that.
We run Knift as well as we can, but promise no availability. The server may be off for maintenance, and the chains may change their websites so that offers are missing for a while.
The app stays usable meanwhile — with the data last fetched and a note that it is old. That is deliberate: a shopping list that will not open without a server is worthless in the shop.
For intent and gross negligence we are liable under the statutory rules, likewise for injury to life, body or health. Otherwise we are liable only for breach of essential obligations, and limited to the foreseeable damage typical of this kind of agreement.
We are not liable for the correctness of prices and offers — see section 5.
You can stop at any time: delete the account, uninstall the app, done. There is no notice period, because there is no fixed-term agreement.
If we change them, we say so in the app before the new version applies. Anyone who disagrees deletes their account — the app without an account is unaffected.
Dutch law applies. If you are a consumer, the mandatory protective provisions of your country of residence remain untouched — so you can also bring proceedings there.
The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution; we are not obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration body and do not take part.
